Miranda_The Hair Lounge

Miranda has been working as a hairdresser for 16 years. She opened her own business, The Hair Lounge, three years ago in Gin Gin and has been thrilled with the community support and warmth.

During the pandemic, Miranda was able to keep her business open under strict restrictions such as social distancing and increased disinfection. “The uncertainty of what was going to happen and if we were going to get locked down… closed down, probably that was the hardest part”. And while there were weeks where there was little business, Miranda was just so grateful to be able to stay open and keep going.

“The most amazing thing is, once we were able to open up and people were able to move around more, is that our locals got in and supported our businesses… the community really got behind us and supported us”.

Miranda does not consider herself an essential worker, rather she sees hairdressing as more of a luxury. So, she was so thankful that she could remain operating and could still send her children to school. As a thank you to the teachers at Gin Gin Primary, she sent chocolate platers as a way of showing her appreciation for their continued work during those difficult times.

A big thank you to Miranda for sharing her story with me.
